DIABETES EDUCATION CLASSES

We are providing free diabetes education classes on the following dates:

1/25/2012 – Basic Education
2/29/2012 – Basic Education
3/14/2012 – Basic Education

Classes start at 4:00pm. Feel free to bring a friend to class! To register call 402-441-3575.

ELIXA STUDY

You may be eligible for the Elixa drug study if you are over 30 years old, have type 2 diabetes or have been told you have high blood sugar level and you were recently in the hospital for an acute coronary syndrome event (certain types of heart attacks or unstable angina.)

Providers

Dr. Steven J. Saathoff


 

Dr. Saathoff was born and raised on a dairy farm near Naponee, NE in south central Nebraska. He attended Franklin Public Schools graduating in 1984. He attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in biology graduating with high honors. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Nebraska graduating with honors and named to the medical honors society of Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his residency in Family Practice at the University of Nebraska Medical Center winning the Rico award.
 
Dr. Saathoff is board certified in family medicine from the American Academy of Family Practice. He is on staff at all Lincoln hospitals. He began his practice in Lincoln in 1995 at the 7th and Superior site and became Superior Street Family Physicians in 1999. In December of 2006 he moved to our present location as Fallbrook Family Health Center.
 
Dr. Saathoff's medical interests include diabetes, the metabolic syndrome, preventative medicine, migraines and sports medicine. He is a recognized speaker on topics as diverse as migraines, hypertension, diabetes and arthritis/pain management.
 
Dr. Saathoff is married with two daughters. His personal interests include martial arts and he has mastered a fifth degree black belt. 

Dr. April C. Brinkhoff

 


Dr. Brinkhoff is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in Biology and Art History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
 
During her undergraduate training she studied film at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She received her medical degree in 2004 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and completed residency training at the Lincoln Family Medicine Program in 2007. She is board certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice. She is on staff at all Lincoln hospitals.
 
She is married with three children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as visiting art museums and traveling.

Dr.John Majerus


 

Dr. Majerus was born and raised here in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He returned to Lincoln and completed residency training at the Lincoln Family Medicine Program in 2001.
 
Dr. Majerus is board certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice. He began practicing medicine in Lincoln in 2001 and joined Fallbrook Family Health Center in 2011. He is on staff at BryanLGH Medical Center and Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center.
 
Dr. Majerus has also served in the Air National Guard for over 20 years. He initially enlisted after high school and served as a medic and EMT and was commissioned as a flight surgeon after medical school. He has served in numerous roles as a flight surgeon and has logged flying hours on a variety of aircraft including T-37, F-15, F-16, UH-60 and KC-135. Lt. Col. Majerus currently serves as the State Air Surgeon for the Nebraska Air National Guard.
 
Dr. Majerus is married with six children. Outside the office, he keeps busy with family activities, running, and military service.

Amy K. Arndt, APRN


 

Amy K. Arndt is a lifetime Lincoln resident, graduating from Lincoln High School. She completed her Associate degree in nursing at Southeast Community College and her Bachelor of Nursing at Nebraska Wesleyan.
 
In 2003, she completed her Masters in Nursing at University of Nebraska Medical Center with specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has worked with Dr. Saathoff as a Certified Nurse Practitioner at Fallbrook Family Health Center since graduating with her degree in 2003. 
 
Amy's practice is enhanced by her previous experience as an RN in the fields of orthopedics, physical rehabilitation and trauma. She is an active member in the Nebraska Nurse Practitioner Association and a preceptor to other nurse practitioners. 
 
She is married with three boys. Her hobbies include traveling and spending time with family.

Miranda Kliment, APRN


Miranda was raised near Ceresco, NE on a family farm. She graduated from BryanLGH College of Health Sciences School of Nursing in 2004 with her diploma in Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2006.
 
In 2010, she completed her Masters of Science at Creighton University with a specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
 
As a nurse, Miranda’s experiences included working in the hospital as well as in an outpatient family practice clinic. Miranda chose to specialize in family medicine because this allows her to care for patients and their families over a lifetime.
 

Miranda lives outside of Valparaiso with her husband and two children. When she is not at Fallbrook, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, learning to quilt, and being outdoors with her family..
